Questions for PTSA or Principal Bogan?
- Lunch switch - same amount of time, 20 minutes,
- Used to be 3 grades at a time, now 2, so lines are shorter and it’s meant to give kids more time to eat.
- Question about fifth-grade staffing and specials.
- Class-size concerns in specials were discussed.
- Union reps will be filing a grievance with the district to try to get some movement to support breaking those up.
- Is music shorter than last year?
- Yes, she’s halftime. We were at 18 classrooms last year, they reduced to 16, then up to 17, so we would need 1 more to get fulltime music added back.
- Question about kids with IEP and also counseling services.
- They get support and are sometimes in their own classroom and sometimes with their grade’s classroom.
- Counselor is in the building once a week and kids are signed up ahead of time to meet with them.
- How’s the street closure going?
- Well! Feels less dangerous now.
- Lockdown drills. Are they happening? Has communication changed?
- They don’t get put in the bulletin.
- Sometimes teachers give a heads up.
- There is a script that teachers follow and read.
- Events include lockdown, evacuation, reverse evacuation.
- Reverse evacuation was described as bringing students inside from outdoor areas when needed.
