General Meeting: Programs, Fundraising, and Volunteer Planning

General Intro:

- Part of the Washington PTA
- Core Team (rather then defined roles)
- Interested in new ideas particularly from marginalized groups. Actual work limited by bandwidth of the members.

Specific Items to chat about

Kimball Kitchen

    - Sharing food with the community, and sharing cultures.
    - Core group is still interested, but would love some help. Mostly administrative.
    - Also looking for ideas of how to make this less transactional

Kimball Families of Color and NAAPID

    - Interest was expressed in reviving Kimball Families of Color.
    - NAAPID - National African American Parent Involvement Day - IN Feb, we usually do something, looking for non-AA parents to help with set up so AA parents can focus on the event and community building.

After-school program

    - They have assembled a group of classes to go from November to May (28 week). Classes will range in price depending on expenses - examples $150 -$330 for 28 weeks. Prices are designed to pay for instructors and snacks. Prices are a suggestion, and classes are actually pay what you can.
    - Classes M-TH with most classes being M/W or M/TH and a few being just T.
    - Total cost is ~$24,000 - hopefully to be paid by money coming in.

Treasurer update - Tammy

    - A new special-request form would be routed through the school office before PTSA review.

SESSFA and the year's MOU

    - Group of 17 PTSA fundraising together - run the Move-A-Thon in March.
    - Some discussion of what this was, and how it works.
    - A co-site leader was sought for Kimball's SESSFA representation.

Meetings

    - How often? - Once a Month on Tuesdays
    - In person? On zoom? - Alternating - in person every other month.

Communications

    - How often do you want to see them? - Before and after meetings, and around any events.
    - What types of communications - how can we reach more people?
- Directory
    - There was interest in the directory. Need to send out our own forms to have parents sign up. Should do this soon - try to get these together by Curriculum night Oct 4th.

    - No longer called ELL - Now ML - multilingual - 2 parents interested.
- T-shirts
- Winter Clothing Drive? Carrie

    - Events that we are planning

        - Art Walk was identified as a possible event requiring coordination.
        - Spring Fling - or similar school carnival - doesn’t have to be spring. Could be great in the new building

    - 5th Grade events - usually planned by 5th grade parents
