Cougar Connection - Staff Appreciation & Move-A-Thon Success

💌 Oops! A Little Tech Hiccup

We’re growing -- and learning!

You may have noticed an extra email land in your inbox. Please accept our apologies—that draft went out before it was quite ready for prime time! We are currently transitioning to a new newsletter system to improve how we communicate, and we are still smoothing out a few wrinkles.

Believe the dates in * this * newsletter -- they're the accurate ones! The PTSA meeting is Wednesday, and Move-a-Thon Fundraising is closed.

We're always striving to make the Cougar Connection more useful for our diverse community. If you have feedback or suggestions on how to do things better, let us know!

🍎 Staff Appreciation Week: Show Our Teachers Some Love!

Help us celebrate the incredible team at Kimball

Our incredible teachers and staff go above and beyond for our students every day. Let’s come together as a community to show them our gratitude during Staff Appreciation Week, starting Monday, May 4!

Here is how you can participate:

  • Tuesday Treats & Notes: On Tuesday, May 5, we are asking families to bring in fresh fruit, sweet treats, or heartfelt handwritten notes and drawings from students. These can be delivered to the front office or the staff lounge to brighten their day!
  • Volunteer Your Time: We need helpers to ensure the week runs smoothly. Please check the sign-up link below to see where you can plug in.

Thank you for helping us show our staff how much we appreciate everything they do for the Kimball community!

♻️ Save Our Ridwell Recycling!

♻️ Save Our Ridwell Recycling!

We need 9 more sign-ups to keep our plastic film recyling next year!

Our community has always been committed to making a green impact, but we need a little help to keep one of our favorite sustainability programs alive!

Currently, we only have 1 sign-up for our Ridwell partnership, and we need at least 9 more families to join to ensure Kimball continues to receive plastic film recycling services next school year.

Sign up for a Ridwell membership using our unique Kimball link below. And help spread the word to other friends and neighbors!

The deadline to reach our goal is Friday, May 22nd. Let’s work together to keep Kimball green!

🍽️ Kimball Kitchen: Chefs Needed!

🍽️ Kimball Kitchen: Chefs Needed!

Sign up to share a dish for our one-day community event!

Kimball Kitchen is back for a special, one-day-only event this year! This tradition is a wonderful way for our community to celebrate the diversity of our school. Families prepare and sell their favorite dishes -- or prepare their specialities like flower boquets -- with all proceeds going directly toward funding our annual Multicultural Night (Heritage Night).

We are looking for families to sign up to sell their speciality food. Whether it’s a family recipe passed down through generations or a favorite snack, we would love to feature your cooking! Please note that per school policy, all contributed dishes must include a printed ingredient and allergy disclosure card.

  • Sign-up Deadline: May 15
  • Drop-off on June 7 at 3:45 PM; pick up between 4:00 - 6:00 PM @ KImball Playground

Help us keep this tradition alive and raise funds needed to support the annual Multicultural Night. We can't wait to see what you're cooking!

🏃🎉 Move-A-Thon Success: We Hit Our Stride!

A huge thank you to our community for raising nearly $20,000!

We are over the moon! Thanks to your incredible hard work, energy, and generosity, Kimball raised nearly $20,000 during our annual Move-A-Thon. These funds are vital in supporting the work the PTSA does to support our school community.

Our impact reaches even further through the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance (SESSFA). Together with our neighbor schools, we helped raise almost $500,000 to support students across South Seattle. This is a powerful testament to what we can achieve when we work together for equity and our kids.
